Welcome to our newest Scout, Shane! We're glad you're with us.

The CALENDAR page has not only Troop 220 info, but extra activities in the area. If you're working on Merit Badges, make sure to check out what's coming up!

NOW is the time to begin thinking about SUMMER CAMP . This year we'll be at Camp Fife July 6-12. Final fees are due by May 1. See Mr. or Mrs. Odell for more information. The Camp Guide can be downloaded here. Merit Badges at Camp Fife are done by pre-registration. There are some really great ones here including Waterskiing, and Horsemanship! See the Camp Fife page for a list. Note: Mrs. Odell informed us that due to issues with the dam, there will be no Whitewater badge this year.

FUNDRAISING: Need to dig up money for camp? There is still wood at the Vanderpoel's waiting to be chopped and stacked. This is a good way to raise funds for anyone willing to work.

MERIT BADGE INFO:

PARENTS, do you have a special skill, profession, or interest? We need more merit badge counselors. Every parent has something to offer! It benefits the Scouts to have several different Merit Badge Counselors. Please consider it! See Billie H at the next troop meeting for an application. Merit Badge topics are here.

Be sure to make every meeting in March, as we'll be working on CITIZENSHIP IN THE COMMUNITY (Eagle required) as a troop. Open up a blue card with Mr. Odell.

The FAMILY LIFE badge (Eagle required) takes quite a bit of time to complete. Mrs. Hanson is opening up MB cards for Scouts wanting to work on it. Please see her at the next meeting.

Mrs. Odell is now opening the COMMUNICATIONS (Eagle required) badge. If you have any classes in school that require speeches or presentations, open your badge now so that you may count them for the Communications requirements.

Mr. McMillan is offering the AMERICAN CULTURES badge. This is a great badge that's very interesting. Take the time to visit a worship service other than your own, sample cuisine from another culture, check out museum displays, or attend a cultural event. We'll all meet at a later date to discuss and display what we've learned.

Mr. Pzsczola is recruiting a Merit Badge Counselor for JOURNALISM, and it will soon be offered. This is a badge that you'll have a lot of fun while learning, whether you choose Newspaper & Magazine or Radio & Television. He will also be offering the LAW badge soon.

Interested in HIKING (Eagle optional)? There's a 20-miler scheduled for Wednesday, May 14. If you'd like to open the badge, see Mrs. Gentry.

Mr. Johnson will be offering the GOLF badge soon. If you are interested in doing this, please let him know so that he can get an accurate account of Scouts for the course.

Remember that Scouts of ANY rank may work on Merit Badges. If you are interested in working on a Merit Badge that you don't see listed above, see the Merit Badge Requirements page for steps to earning one. We are blessed to have so many adults willing to work with our Scouts!

QUOTE OF THE MONTH : "The goodness of a person and of the society he or she lives in often comes down to very simple things and words found in the Scout Law. Every society depends on trust and loyalty, on courtesy and kindness, on bravery and reverence. These are the values of Scouting, and these are the values of Americans." ~President George Bush

ON THE WEB:

The United States Heritage Award was designed by Scouts and adults to give Scouts recognition for learning about their nation's heritage. Requirements vary by age and award level.

For Scouts 14+, the Congressional Award is a non-partisan award recognizing public service, personal development, physical fitness and exploration. There are different levels awarded according to the work involved. It's fits neatly with Scouts, and most of the activities are the same a Scout work on as he earns his Eagle rank.
